Wellbeing

Every child has unique qualities and at Turramurra High School we recognise each student as an individual.

All our programs address the social and emotional wellbeing of young people so as to provide them with a framework to work with beyond the school environment.

Entry into Turramurra High School in year 7 is eased by our peer support program.  Other programs tackle common issues such as gender identity, self worth, bullying and peer pressure.  Leadership opportunities in the senior school enable students to build on their strengths and improve their confidence.

The staff at Turramurra High School care for each individual student and recognise that what works for one child does not necessarily work for another – a flexible and caring attitude enables us the bring out the very best in each child.

Learning and Support

At Turramurra High School we have a range of educational options and avenues to support students with additional learning needs. This includes providing extra support to students with a disability or learning difficulty.

Every student is entitled to attend a NSW public school. If our school is your local school and your first preference, we suggest you talk to our Principal to discuss your son's or daughter's needs and options.

Following your discussion, their learning needs will be assessed so that decisions can be made about how we can best meet your child’s needs in a mainstream setting.

You will be involved in any decision about the type of support and adjustments made.

After enrolment we will work with you and your child to continually review their learning needs at each stage of their education.

Enrolling in school

Starting a new school is a big step for all students and their families. If you are thinking about enrolment, we can help with your child’s transition to our school. Please contact our principal or the Learning and Support Teacher to make an appointment to discuss what we are able to provide for you and your child.

Is your student struggling but is already at our school?

If you have concerns about your son's or daughter's development or progress at school, or if they have special learning needs which have changed, please contact the Learning and Support Teacher or your child’s Year Advisor so we can best cater for your child’s needs.
